What we hold, and what you make public
A Passport only means something if it is clear who can see what. This page says exactly that: what Caterpi stores, what is public, and what stays private until you release it.

What we hold
- Your account: the name and email address you sign up with.
- Your skills: what you declare, what you ask a verifier to assess, and the level you were issued.
- Your evidence: the links, notes and files in your Evidence library.
- Your applications: the opportunity you applied to, which records you disclosed, and anything you wrote.
- Sessions you attend, credits you buy, and the messages you send us.
- For organisations: company details, the people you invite, and the workforce records you keep.
What is public
Only what you release. A verified record you have released shows your name alongside the skill, its level, the date it was issued, how long it runs, the verifier’s reasoning and its verification code. A declaration you have published shows the skill, what you said about it, and its label — Self-declared, or Evidence submitted when you attached work.
A record you have not released appears nowhere publicly: not on your Passport, and not in talent search. Nothing a verifier declined is published, and no verification request is public before it is issued.
What stays private
- Files you upload as evidence. They are stored privately and opened through a short-lived signed link, not a public address. Links you add yourself point at your own public pages.
- Declarations you have not released, and records you have taken off your Passport.
- Your applications, and any notes an employer keeps about them — those stay with that organisation’s team and Caterpi staff.
- Verification submissions while they are being reviewed, panel scheduling, and your credit balance.
When you apply for something
You choose which verified records to disclose to an employer, and that choice is recorded with the application. The employer sees your Passport as you released it for that application. An organisation can only ever see records that someone has released to it — never the rest of a person’s Passport, and never anyone’s evidence library.
What organisations see about their own workforce
Capability, coverage and maturity views are built from the workforce records an organisation keeps about its own people, read as levels, coverage and counts. Talent search reads released, verified records only.
Payments
Credits are bought through Stripe. Card details go to Stripe and are never seen or stored by Caterpi. What we keep is the purchase record: how many credits, what was paid, when, and the Stripe reference for that payment.
Verification codes
Every verified record carries an unguessable code so anyone can check it at source. Whoever holds the code can open that record and see what it says. Treat it like a link to your Passport, and share it only with people you want to be able to check your record.
Your choices
- Release or take back any verified record, at any time, from your Passport.
- Delete an evidence item or a declaration you no longer want to keep.
- Ask us to delete your account and the data behind it.
- Ask what we hold about you, and ask for a correction.
Questions about your own data, want something changed, or something paid for not working? Ask in the Assistant inside your account, or write to support@caterpi.com and we will answer as a person. How skills are defined and challenged is covered in the methodology.
